Your Voice, Your Story \ud83c\udfa4\u2728<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I\u2019m guilty of hiding behind my decks \ud83c\udfa7 and letting the music do the talking. I\u2019d carefully curate the perfect mix\u2014believing the songs were all that mattered. Yet I was completely oblivious to the value I was adding just by being professional and reliable\u2014by showing up as agreed \u2714\ufe0f, taking care of all the VIPs \ud83d\udc51 and guests, and, of course, by presenting their favourite songs in a way only I could.<\/p>\n

Creating a party vibe \ud83c\udf89 was the easy part\u2014so much easier than speaking on a microphone \ud83c\udf99\ufe0f or introducing another act I was sharing the big, scary stage with.<\/p>\n

When I was gifted my first mic, it sat in its box \ud83d\udce6 for weeks while I stared at it, wondering what the hell I was supposed to do with it.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve heard the usual advice:<\/p>\n

\ud83e\udeae \u201cUse a hairbrush in the mirror!\u201d<\/em> (back when I had longer hair and actually owned a hairbrush).
\n\ud83e\udee3 \u201cPicture everyone naked!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Despite everyone\u2019s good intentions, none of that advice worked.<\/p>\n

What Did Work?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Being thrown in the deep end \ud83c\udf0a. No notice, no prep\u2014just handed the mic and told, \u201cOver to you. Go!\u201d<\/em> \ud83c\udfa4<\/p>\n

My body froze \ud83d\ude28, but somehow, I said what needed to be said\u2014and I couldn\u2019t wait to put the ruddy thing down!<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re thrown into the mix like I was, you either sink or swim\u2014and whilst that wouldn\u2019t work for everyone, had it never happened to me, I may never have gotten started. It ended up being one of the catalysts that shaped the learning experience I now provide for others.<\/p>\n

Why It Feels So Overwhelming<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Being handed a mic for the first time or walking out onto an empty stage with no practice run, having no idea how your voice will sound\u2014it\u2019s easy for nerves to take over:<\/p>\n

\n\u2728 Stumbling over words
\n\u2728 Struggling to read what\u2019s written on the card you\u2019ve been handed<\/p>\n

I know how intimidating it can be. I\u2019ve been there\u2014running through several scenarios in my head before saying a single word.<\/p>\n

Now, add a stage, a live audience \ud83c\udfa5\ud83d\udc65, and layers of technology, video, and timing into the mix, and the pressure only increases.<\/p>\n

Without the right support, most learners wouldn\u2019t come back for more!<\/p>\n

Maybe you\u2019re unsure if your voice deserves to be heard \ud83d\udd6f\ufe0f. Maybe you doubt you have anything meaningful to say\u2014or you\u2019re starting to panic and forget everything you\u2019re supposed to do\u2014especially in those high-pressure moments \ud83e\udde0\u23f3.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019m not a one-woman production show for nothing\u2014and I don\u2019t do things by halves \ud83d\udcaa!<\/p>\n

I got to know how this stuff works \ud83c\udf9b\ufe0f by getting stuck in. I\u2019ve learned to adapt, troubleshoot \ud83d\udd27, and make things work\u2014even when the tech fails, the equipment glitches \u26a0\ufe0f, or the nerves kick in.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m uber<\/em> passionate about giving my audience what they came for.<\/p>\n

Having the skills and confidence to use a microphone\u2014coupled with my versatility and unique set of gifts \ud83c\udf81 and talents\u2014has not only gotten me consistently paid, but also re-hired, requested, and remembered \ud83c\udfc6.<\/p>\n

What I\u2019ve Learned:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u2728 There\u2019s only so much value for the audience if there\u2019s only music.
\n\u2728 Your voice, tone, presence, and personality matter.
\n\u2728 Your story and truth deserve to be heard\u2014messy bits and all.
\n\u2728 True connection doesn\u2019t happen when we\u2019re perfectly polished\u2014it happens when we\u2019re real, honest, and truthful about how we really feel.<\/p>\n

What Makes the Difference?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Many creators, speakers \ud83c\udf99\ufe0f, presenters, and DJs \ud83c\udfa7 have felt the same way. Not everyone makes it, despite their desire to step forward and own their space.<\/p>\n

They don\u2019t have all the answers\u2014but they either decide their story is worth telling \ud83d\udcd6 or the excitement of doing it far outweighs the regret of not doing it \u2696\ufe0f.<\/p>\n
